This evening the old country bar on Day Hollow Road in Owego burned down. Around 6:30 I noticed emergency vehicles going by and when I looked out my home-office window I saw the building completely engulfed in flames. The bar has been known by many names but to me I've known it by the Outpost, Rick's Day Hollow Inn and most recently Uncle David's Steakhouse. Emergency vehicles are on site as of 8:40 am with firetrucks getting water out of the local creak to help with the flames. Fortunately the wind has died down and the smoke has gone essentially straight up tonight. Though it's a clear sky and the stars are out there's many more "sparkles" in the air from the embers rising up from the heat.
