Today is the third day in a row that I have visited our Great Blue Heron Rookery in Owego. It is such a wonderful sight to see. I have enjoyed watching these beautiful herons sitting on their nests and flying to and fro to bring sticks back to add to their nests. These sticks are about five feet in length and I can't figure out how these herons successfully navigate through all of the tree branches to their nests! We are fortunate indeed to have this wonderful rookery in the Southern Tier! Check out the rookery before the tree leaves obscure the many nests!

If you go to the rest area on Rt. 17 west of Owego and look across the river you'll see this rookery.

WHERE is this rookery? You said Owego, but not where in Owego it is located. I would LOVE to visit and photograph. I've gone to Brick pond but not been super successful with captures there.
