The sycamore trees are loaded with Great Blue Heron nests in the Great Blue Heron Rookery in Owego. What a welcome sight to enjoy and so close to home for us here in the Southern Tier! The next closest rookery of which I am aware is the Sterling Nature Center on Lake Ontario which is more than a two hour drive to reach. You'll want to visit our local rookery soon before the tree leaves mask the herons' nests!
