Traveling back from Massachusetts through the Catskill Mountains of New York on Friday, I drove through a small hamlet of Prattsville, New York. According to the 2010 census, Prattsville only had 700 residents and the per capita income was below the poverty level. Unfortunately, Prattsville also had been severely damaged by the floods of Hurricane Irene in the fall of 2011. Most of the businesses, homes, and churches are still boarded up and not many repairs have been completed to rebuild the hamlet. Saddness quickly came over me and the images are forever burnt to my memory.
