Nesting Osprey

Unique Raptors

While on a trip to visit a few of our favorite birding locations, we spotted this beautiful nesting osprey returning to its nest. Ospreys are unique among North American raptors for their diet of live fish and the ability to dive into water to catch them. Unlike eagles, osprey can completely submerge and still be able to fly away with its catch! Osprey are approximately two feet long and have a five to six foot wingspan.
