Owego's annual Strawberry Festival kicked off last night with their Friday night block party. They have a contest called 'Straw Dawgs', with many 'CAT'egories dogs enter for a chance to win. The winner of all categories gets to go in the parade this morning! Alas my dog Benedetto (Italian-Whippet) did not win. Bene ('Benny')and his sidekick, my other dog Tona (Miniature Pincer) were able for the first time, meet so many new friends. Owego is a very dog friendly down and it seems like every other person you meet on their River Walk, is at the end of a dog leash. Monicas Heart (adoptions for retired racing Greyhounds) was at the Block Party. Benedetto's breed looks like a mini Greyhound. It was interesting to see just how he sized up against them. No contest there.
