This tree, located on the north side of Chenango County Route 23 just west of Norwich, refuses to die, even though it has fallen because of a damaged trunk. Just enough of bark and wood are still connected on one side to let sap circulate to the branches on the upper side of the fallen trunk, keeping them alive.
