The Union-Endicott JFS Jazz Band performed at the Oakdale mall recently during Music in Our Schools Month. Barbara Gannon, the band's director and teacher at the school led the band in several tunes to the delight of everyone who attended, and those who were passing by in the mall. Amanda Schmitz was featured on an alto sax solo to the ballad of My One True Friend, originally sung by Bette Midler, with the many different sections of the band highlighted. It was truly a wonderful performance and gave the students a chance to really show their community how successful our music programs are in Union-Endicott.

Amanda is my grandaughter. I heard her play this song at our Senior Center in Browns Mills,NJ. The performance was enjoyed by all. Both Amanda and her sister Melissa who also plays the sax will be coming back to play at the request of the seniors.
