While walking my dog, I heard the squawking of what sounded like a very large flock of geese, but Looking in the sky, I saw none. A few minutes later, while going to the store, I drove past Nichols Pond to see the sight captured in these photos. As I watched for awhile, two additional large flocks joined those already on the pond. My best guess is that there must have been about 1,000 geese gathered on top of the thin layer of ice and feeding through holes they created.
