The Annual Memorial Day parade and services made possible by the Guilford Fire Dept. will be held on Main St. in Guilford on May 26, 2008 at 8:30 AM. The line up will begin at 8:00 at the school garage. The Bainbridge-Guilford band will be marching and performing. This year we will be honoring the deceased Navy pilot Lt. Floyd G. Nelson plus all our veterans of the military service living and deceased. Veterans from WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq wars will participate plus others who are or were in the military service during peace time. There will be floats or other transportation provided for those who prefer not to march.
Following the parade and services, all are welcome back to the Guilford United Methodist Church for a complimentary continental breakfast where you can meet and talk with our veterans. A special presentation by Millie McKee, sister of Lt. Floyd Nelson will be given. The Veterans Committee of the Guilford Historical Society will have displays and listings of Guilford’s veterans to view. Veterans are asked to bring stories and any photos they may have that we may scan and add to our Military Archives of the Historical Society.
We welcome you to join us on May 26th at 8:30 AM for this special tribute to our veterans.
