Caught these shots of a Downy Woodpecker at a neighbors suet block this afternoon. The first shot showing both eyes as she looked at me illustrates the chisel-shape of her beak. She seemed to be aware of my presence but was sufficiently hungry for the suet that any shyness or trepidation was put aside for the need of the appetite. In the last shot several fragments of suet are on her beak as she pecked away at the block. All shots were taken at a distance of 10 feet or less.
