I woke up on the second day of spring to a clear blue sky and the memory of Punxsutawney Phil's prediction of an early spring. I checked the thermometer and found it to be zero. I looked out at the river and saw a fog over the slushy ice filled waters. I watched the red winged black birds, cowbirds and robins huddled around the bird feeders in the back yard. My chihuahua refused to go outside to do her business. Drat you Phil, Drat you.
Spring's late on the Delaware.
