My son and I saw this dragonfly this afternoon. He didn't seem to want to fly away, after finding this nice warm spot in the sun! He sat and let me take a bunch of pictures of him before flying off.

Looks like a it might be a Male Green Darner, the largest of the dragonflies in this area. They are usually very active fliers, rarely perching for any length of time. If it was a cool day that would explain its relative inactivity.
