My name is Glenn Skinner, I am 49 years old. I've been an LPN / Nurse for 16+ years and I'm also a photographer. I've been smoking for more than 40 years now. I am a very curtious smoker and will not smoke in my vehicle if any passenger in my vehicle doesn't smoke. It really annoys me to no end to see a child in a car and an adult smoking in that vehicle. A child has no choice and the unneccessary illnesses that child may acquire due to 2nd hand smoke is rediculous. We all know smoking is bad for everyones health and as adults we have a choice to smoke or not, but that poor child has No say and it is rediculous in this day and age. I believe someone in the Federal government should make it a Nationwide Law- Adults may not smoke in any confined or closed in area with a child under the age of 18 which includes motor vehicles and should also include homes. In my opinion it is an easy case to prove in any court that this is Child Abuse and should not be tolerated any longer. A child is innocent and our Goverment both State & Federal should pass such a law. I would love to initiate such a law. Our government passes so many laws with no problem & I truly believe on any level when it comes to a vote, this would pass anywhere and everywhere in the USA. I know child abuse charges would be out of the question and would overload our court systems at this time, but a hefty fine would be a good start. Any help, I would appreciate it. I am not familiar with how to present this to any government entity but would be willing to get a petition started any way possible.
