Harold William "Butch" Skeene is in Bridgewater Nursing Home with stage 4 brain cancer. He can not identify anyone, nor communicate with them.
Butch Skeene is the top singer in the Triple Cities area for the last 40-45 years. His career has wowed the crowds in countless nightclubs and bars. His group Butch Skeene and the 2nd Edition was the hottest local band ever in the Binghamton area. Later on he joined the infamous "Platters" and toured the world. Returning to Binghamton in 1980, Butch joined forces with renowned pianist Santo Cofini, working for me at the Zanzibar for over 3 years straight. They were a match made in heaven and drew countless numbers of people night after night. HE took a break fro music for a period of time, then 3 years ago the 2nd Edition regrouped as Butch Skeene and the 2nd Edition.
Butch Skeene is the most talented individual in the Triple Cities, his voice was near perfect, and his personality was as great as his voice. I believe he has a star on the Broome Co. Walk of Fame.
It makes me really sad to see his life end so sadly. Butch should be applauded by the Triple Cities public right now, and not after his death. At the end of every performance he always had a big "Thank You" and now it's time that we all thanked Butch for being Binghamton's Star!
