At approximately a little after 1 in the afternoon a single car hit a telephone pole on the east side. We are not sure of the reasons for this. My parents who live on that side of town took the picture and told me that they heard a loud crack type boom sound. It took out a 5 foot section of the telephone pole leaving it hanging by the wires. Currently at 2:30pm NYSEG has turned off power in the area to work on the pole.
