Harpursville Youth honored

William Villano , a graduate of Harpursville High School and a current freshman at Broome Community college has achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in Boy Scouts. According to the Baden Powell Council , 62 Boy Scouts in the council achieved this rank in 2013. This accomplishment for William represents almost six years of adventure, fun work and dedication to the Boy Scout program. William is a member of Boy Scout Troop 51 in Afton NY.
During the process of satisfying the requirements for the Eagle rank, William performed community service and leadership for his troop. He is a member of his Order of the Arrow Chapter, the Honor Society of Scouting.
In addition to the outdoor skills learned in Boy Scouts, William has a host of merit badges he earned along the way. He has served in a variety of leadership positions in his troop including Patrol Leader and Senior Patrol Leader. He also served as a Den Chief for Cub Scout Pack 180 in Harpursville NY.
His Eagle Project was to renovate the boys and girls bathrooms at the Harpursville Youth Baseball field.
William is an Education major at BCC and plans to transfer to SUNY Binghamton to continue his studies. He plans on becoming an English teacher.
William will be formally presented the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor Ceremony at the Nineveh Presbyterian Church on Saturday Feb 15 2014
