Ice Volcano on Lake Ontario

Ice Dunes and Ice Volcano

When checking our place at the lake in Pulaski on one of the rare sunny Sundays recently, we spotted the ice dunes that were quite high. One of them appears to be an "ice volcano" with slushy sand and water spewing up through the center. Our Airedale pup loved checking out the dunes, which go out several hundred feet this year. In the second photo, you can see the iced over Port Ontario channel beacon where the Salmon River flows into Lake Ontario.
