Patiently waiting my turn

Early bird gets berries & place in line

The humble European Starling is often thought of as such a pest. They are so beautiful though, if you get a chance to see them close enough and in the sunlight. Their feathers are so iridescent, and I just love those yellow spots. This guy was patiently waiting for a turn at the suet that was set out. They are also more than happy to rid our lawns of grubs when they can get to them after the thaw. The blue jay I noticed, seemed almost sad. Too late, berries are all picked over. I know how he feels sometimes when I get to the farmers market too late.
