After serving 8 years the Army closed their base in Aviano Italy and he decided to get out of the service.
A year later his best friend contacted him and said that he had transitioned to the USCG,they needed pilots and would he be interested. Jeff was, filed his request and was accepted this time as an Ensign. He went to Officer School and was assigned the Dolphin (HH-65)aircraft. Again his success continued and he rose from Ensign all the way to Lieutenant Commander. During the following 14 years he received numerous Commendation and Achievement Medals and was promoted to Instructor Pilot and then Standardization Instructor Pilot. In this position he would travel to numerous USCG Air Stations as part of a team to ensure the readiness and proficiency of their pilots.
His final assignment was at the Los Angeles USCG Air
Station as their Assistant Operations Officer and Standardization Pilot. Recently Vice Commandant Currier, who Jeff served under while he was a captain, was at the LAX Air Station and commended Jeff on his service to the USCG.
