Underpasses Flood Following Heavy Rain

Many underpasses, sidewalks and parking lots flood following heavy rain. On Wednesday, June 26th heavy rain caused flooding all over the City of Binghamton. In many areas water built up and swept across sidewalks, intersection and parking lots. Lower areas like underpasses flooded quickly making some a hazard for drivers. The underpass on Chenango Street in Binghamton was just one of many to take on a large quantity of water. City workers, police and fire departments were out clearing drains, closing underpasses and responding to distressed drivers who found themselves stranded while trying to pass through flooded areas.
