Out today for a walk in the rain and found this black and brown catepillar and was able to get a photo before it was carried off by a woman trying to protect it. The brown part is suppose to predict how mild it will be , see this website

Saw a wolly worm today, 8/22/08, it was mostly black with a touch of brown in the middle. Guess we are in for a cold 2008/2009.
