Chenango Forks HS Scores $1000 of Sports Equipment as Winner of YouNews™ and WBNG.com Contest
December 9, 2008, Madison, WI: The students at Chenango Forks High School in Binghamton will receive an early holiday gift of $1000 of sports equipment, courtesy of WBNG and YouNews™. The school’s football program was recently highlighted on WBNG.com with a photo submission to the “YouNews Prep Sports FanCam Contest”, which ended on Nov. 21. The winning submission was uploaded by local Binghamton resident Christina Rollo and features a colorful action shot of a “Forks” defensive tackle against Waverly during a clash on September 6th.
YouNews editors culled through hundreds of FanCam submissions from over 60 affiliate stations nationwide, and Rollo’s entry was one of only four selected to receive the grand prize. The Chenango Forks sports department will receive $1000 worth of equipment, awarded in the form of gift cards to an online retailer. As the submitter of the winning entry, Rollo will receive a Panasonic portable DVD player and two DVD movies.
FanCam winning submissions were also selected from YouNews affiliate stations in Peoria, IL (NBC affiliate WEEK), Corpus Christi, TX (Independent KIII) and Billings, MT (NBC affiliate KULR). Local schools in these communities will each receive $1000 of sports equipment, with the winning entry submitter taking home a DVD player and movies.
WBNG.com’s next YouNews contest is now accepting submissions. From now until January 5th, 2009, website visitors are encouraged to upload “Happy Holidays” content for a chance to win one of six, $250 shopping sprees. In mid-February, WBNG.com and YouNews will kick off another sports-themed contest, looking for the best basketball shots, dunks and buzzer-beaters.
