Standoff in Bradford County

A woman who police said threatened a utility worker with a gun is now keeping police away from her home.

Offices in Bradford County said the standoff began around 11:30 a.m. at a home on Ford Street in Pike Township, right outside LeRaysville.

A Claverack Electric utility worker was going to the house to collect on a bill. He said the woman at the house told him if he did anything to their meter she would be holding a gun while he did it.

He called police and when troopers showed up, they found the woman with the gun.

The trooper called for backup. There are now a number of troopers who responded to the home near LeRaysville.

Ford Street is blocked off and people trying to get to their homes are being turned away by troopers.

There are no words of any shots fired at this time.

Just before 6 p.m. another 20 state police cruisers arrived at the scene of the standoff
