This is Canine Acres Tasha, she is a black Newfoundland and just surprised us with these beautiful Silver puppies. I did not expect this color, the father of the puppies was a planned breeding and he was a black also. This is a recognized color by the Akc in the Newfoundland breed, but we have never had one born here at Canine Acres Newfoundlands.
The first puppy was born at 2:30 pm on Sunday and the delivery lasted until 2:35am when the last little male was born. Tasha did a great job and we are very proud of her! There are 8 little ones, 4 black and 4 silver.
I am always amazed at how small these little ones are when they are first born. Tasha weighs in at 140 pounds and what a sweetheart. Newfoundlands are Giant breed dogs and are nicknamed "Gentle Giants" they are working dogs and many of them go homes where they become therapy dogs, water rescue, and many go to homes with children with autisum.
They truely are amazing dogs.
