April 19th offered a great opportunity for those looking for sunny skies, warm temperatures, deep snow and steep slopes. Vermont’s Green Mountains still have snow in wooded areas at higher elevations. On the wide open ski trails, it is a mixture of natural and man made snow. The cool temperatures at night have preserved the snow providing good coverage for skiing. The depth is still significant and at least three Vermont ski areas plan to be open until Sunday, April 26. Two areas plan to stay open until May 2nd.
This is the time of year that people in the Northeast can choose the season to experience. Depending on direction of travel, we can enjoy elements of summer, winter and everything in between.
