House Finch nest

House Finch nest

After watching a pair of House Finches flutter around my Arborvitae tree one day, I discovered they had built a nest. The female laid one egg a day for 5 days. Unfortunately, some critter would get each of them within a day or two of hatching. The last two were there Friday afternoon, right before the rain. I went out to get a photo Saturday morning, and they were gone also. I was so upset! Whatever got them must have climbed up the inside of the tree as the nest was deep in the tree and not visible (probably a chipmunk). Hopefully they will return and start over.
