Walking home today I spotted a heron attempting to find fish along the muddy bank of the Chenango River. The river which is higher than I have seen it since early spring, is full of dead plant material from a recent DEC bank clean-up. This along with the muddiness from recent rain has made it impossible for the Herons to feed along the bank per their usual custom in late summer. The Heron later gave up on this side and flew to the West bank.
