Watching the Clann Na Cara Irish Dancers

Roberson Museum: Home for the Holidays

The Roberson museum and historical mansion are interesting and beautiful on any day throughout the year. How lucky we are to experience it during the holiday season when the interior is transformed into a magical showcase of Christmas wonder - both past and present.
You are instantly greeted by some magnificently decorated trees in the main lobby and continuing throughout the entire museum and mansion. The mansion is so spectacular, that I'm planning on having our family portrait taken there for next year - possibly on the staircase or in front of one of the brilliant fireplaces. I would have had it done while we were there today, but alas, our Christmas cards were printed earlier in the day.
Today, in particular, my kids were fascinated by the Irish dancing girls who performed in one of the halls for all visitors. And we also caught a glimpse of the Vestal Community Chorus and heard their carols echoing throughout the mansion.
Can't forget about the trains! These are not just for boys! My girls were mesmerized! With their little noses pressed up against the plexiglass, you could only wonder what they were really imagining about the village spread out before them.
I would encourage anyone who is interested in visiting Roberson to check out their website ( to see what extras are planned for the rest of the season. It looks like a pretty exciting schedule of events including crafts, planetarium shows, and all kids of music.
