Schaeffer named CSAC Player of the Week

Aston, PA – Mariah Schaeffer has been named the Colonial States Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week after leading Marywood University to three wins this past week as the Pacers improved to 6-0 on the season. The sophomore guard averaged 13 points per game for the week to help Marywood to a pair of conference wins while garnering the first weekly conference honors of her career.
Schaeffer (Bainbridge, NY) scored a career-high 25 points to lead Marywood to an 80-66 win over Immaculata University on Monday in the Pacers’ conference opener. Schaeffer shot 9-15 from the floor including 2-3 from three-point range while converting all five of her free throw attempts to lead Marywood to the victory.
In Saturday’s 58-49 win over local CSAC rival Keystone College, Schaeffer again led the Pacers, scoring team-bests of 14 points and eight rebounds as Marywood remained unbeaten on the season at 6-0 (2-0 CSAC). Schaeffer also contributed two rebounds and an assist in limited minutes on Thursday as the Pacers cruised to a 70-38 win over Penn State Schuylkill.
Schaeffer leads the Pacers, averaging 12.2 points per game. The sophomore is shooting 50.9 percent from the floor and 71.4 percent from the free throw line while dishing out 14 assists on the season and pulling down 3.7 rebounds per game.
On Monday, Schaeffer led Marywood with 11 first-half points. Schaeffer finished with 13 points to lead Marywood in a rally to notch a 74-63 win over Misericordia in a non-conference women’s basketball game. The Pacers remain unbeaten on the season, pushing their record to 7-0.
Marywood returns to action on Thursday evening when the travel to Doylestown for a non-conference game against Delaware Valley College. The Pacers’ final game of the fall semester is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 p.m.
Mariah is the daughter of Mike and Ann Marie Schaeffer. She is majoring in AthleticTraining.
