The Violet Crown. O. Henry was the first to put that in writing, actually. Austin, TX, Rome, and now Coventry,NY in the winter, apparently. There’s this beautiful atmospheric effect that happens at sunset, mostly in the late summer, where the sky looks like it’s glowing violet along the horizon.
On 1/10/10, on a cold frosty late afternoon at 4 pm, I could see the Violet Crown, while driving from Green to my home in Nineveh, but I pulled off the road in Coventry to get this shot of something so rare and precious. Nothing has been changed or enhanced. These are the colors the eye saw.
The Violet Crown comes to the skys of NY
