3 inches of snow is no big deal in Binghamton, but Myrtle Beach? Taken 2/13/10, the day we were going to run the Myrtle Beach Marathon. It was cancled but we ran anyways.

Myrtle Beach Marathon 2/13/10 Snowed out

My husband and I had trained for 5 months to run in the Myrtle Beach Marathon. We drove down and were ready to run when Myrtle Beach was hit with a SNOW STORM! We got 3 inches of snow and the marathon was cancled. Because they don't get snow there, normally, there was no way to remove snow from roads and it was deemed to dangerous for runners and drivers who would be sharing some roads. Even though offically the marathon was cancled, hundreds of runners took to the roads and beaches anyways. Runners families and local people handed out water bottles to the runners from their driveways and outside their hotels. It was not an official marathon, but it was a lot of fun.

The end of the little story was supposed to end with "a lot of fun". Also, I can't say enough about the group of people who put the race on. They were out in the cold and snow handing out metals at the finish line of the unofficial race.
