Corning hosted its first GlassFest this weekend, featuring The Corning Museum of Glass Outdoor Hot Glass Show and other artists demonstrating glass, ceramic, and metal techniques. Live music groups performed at Centerway Square, and craft and food vendors lined Market Street in the Crystal City's "Gaffer District." Other events included a historic walking tour, history of glass lectures, Finger Lakes wine and beer tasting, and the Wineglass Running Club's 8K race. Corning hopes the GlassFest will encourage continued tourism on the holiday weekend known for 30 years for the LPGA Corning Classic women's golf tournament. The tournament was discontinued when its principal sponsor, Corning International, said it could no longer afford to sponsor the event.
