125 runners thunder down Rte 41 in Smithville Flats as the sixth annual Smithville Day 5K Run and Walk begins

Smithville Day 5K Run and Walk

The sixth running of the Smithville Day 5K took place Saturday, June 12, 2010 starting at 9:30 a.m. 125 runners competed in the race. The temperatures were in the mid 70s with an overcast sky. The top female finisher was Murphee Hayes with a time of 19:14 and the top male finisher (for four years in a row) was Shaun Horan with a time of 17:05.

The annual race is sponsored by the Genegantslet Fire Company and The Town of Smithville. All proceeds benefit a building fund for a new fire station in Smithville Flats.
