‘Halloweekend’ festivities at Ross Park Campus Oct. 30 & 31

BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- Halloween is just around the corner and The Discovery Center of the Southern Tier in partnership with the Ross Park Zoo are set to host a Halloweekend event.

This will be the first year that The Discovery Center and the Ross Park Zoo have held this event together. Ross Park Zoo Executive Director Phillip Ginter said this event is great for the whole family.

“There will be lots of opportunities for families to come and enjoy the day celebrating with us,” Ginter said. “There will be stations throughout The Discovery Center, the Story Garden, and the park itself and inside the zoo we’ll have a DJ at our amphitheater.”

Executive Director of The Discovery Center Dr. Brenda Myers said this Halloweekend event features a variety of events for children of all ages.

“It’s a great opportunity,Halloweekend for families to come with kind of a nice age range for their children with a lot of different choices of activities,” Myers said. “The museum will be open and the zoo will be open, we’ll have some treats along the way, we have some make and take Halloween gifts and treats to do like pumpkin painting, and we’re also going to have a costume contest at the amphitheater right about 12 o’clock.”

Halloweekend will be held Oct. 30 & 31 at the Ross Park Campus. Festivites begin at 11 a.m. and run until 3 p.m. each day.

Tickets are $13 per person, or $10 if you are a member of either The Discovery Center or the Ross Park Zoo. All tickets will be sold online by reservation only and are limited to 500 tickets per day.
