Broome County Sheriff addresses nationwide threats of school shootings made over social media
(WBNG) -- The Broome County Sheriff’s Office released a statement regarding messages of “shooting up” schools due to bullying being sent over Snapchat.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, a threat of shootings at schools has been going around the country on social media. The office said the messages contain the “number of students and administrators targeted but the dates of the attack keep changing.”
The Broome County Sheriff’s Office said it has not found a link to local schools or credible evidence of a threat.
The Whitney Point School District posted on its website that a threat made over social media was not credible. The entire statement is posted below:
