(TOWN OF DICKINSON) WBNG -- SUNY Broome Community College held a news conference on Wednesday morning to officially announce the kickoff of its 75th anniversary.

The campus community will be celebrating this momentous occasion throughout the 2021 to 22 academic year with special events, ceremonies, service projects, campaigns and more. The news conference included a reading from a letter written by an alumnus of the first graduating class.

To accompany the kickoff, a gallery exhibit opened in conjunction with the news conference. The exhibit is being held in the Gallery inside SUNY Broome’s Cecil C. Tyrrell library and features a look back at the history of the college through photos, articles and memorabilia.

SUNY Broome Professor Emeritus Doug Garnar said “The college has shown a great deal of resilience and ability to reinvent itself through the collaborative efforts of facility, staff, administrates, trustees, and even some people from outside the campus in the community,” said Garnar
