‘It opens up doors so we can open up for wintertime’; Small Brewery receives loan for expansion
COVENTRY (WBNG) -- It is the vision of Mike and Wendy Andres: Forged Brewing Company it’s a family affair when it comes to brewing and serving their own beers.
Starting in an addition off the side of their home, the brewery was looking to expand soon after they opened their doors to the public.
Now, with the help of Commerce Chenango, their dream of expansion is coming true. President and CEO of the organization Kerri Green says there are two loans they offer. The first, is a Small Businesses Fund, and the other is an Agriculture Loan Fund. She says each loan offers up to $100,000.
“The purpose is to help grow businesses support entrepreneurs support agriculture,” she said
Green says when it comes to Forged Brewing Company, the organization looked at utilizing money from both loans.
“This loan was a hybrid it was a little bit of the Agriculture fund a little bit about the Business Assistance Loan Fund in the last year we have given out about $600,000 in loans to businesses that needed to help grow, and expand and we’re just so happy to add Forged to the list of businesses that we’ve helped,” Green said.
The Andres say they are ready for what lies ahead.
“Overwhelmed, because we weren’t sure if we needed to do this now so to be able to do this now instead of springtime this is huge for us. It opens up the doors so we can ope up for winter and have a little more space for everybody and stepping forward it’s just huge and its necessary.”
The couple mentions they are prepping for the Winter as they are planning to stay open year-round.
