Binghamton women’s come up short against St. Bonaventure at home

VESTAL (WBNG) - The Binghamton women’s basketball fell to St. Bonaventure 63-53 Saturday afternoon.

Final score:

St. Bonaventure - 63 (4-1), Binghamton - 53 (2-2)

Junior forward Birna Benonysdottir led the Bearcats with 14 points. Classmate Denai Bowman was right behind with 11 points and finished 5-for-5 from the field.

The Bonnies held the lead throughout the game jumping out to a 26-13 lead with 8:04 left in the second period. The Bearcats, however, went on an 18-3 run to close out the first half.

In the second half, the Bonnies’ lead fluctuated between two and eight points. The final time the Bearcats got to within two points came when Bowman drove in for a layup with 3:05 left in regulation. At that time, the score was 52-50.

Binghamton hosts Mansfield Tuesday at 7 p.m. to finish out the five-game homestand.
