BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- For the third annual Government Plaza Thanksgiving Food Challenge, Senator Fred Akshar, Broome County Executive Jason Garnar and Binghamton Mayor Rich David joined CHOW Director Les Aylesworth to announce which building collected the most food from Nov. 15 to 19 for families in need this Thanksgiving season.

Out of The State Office Building, Broome County Office Building and Binghamton City Hall, the winner of the commemorative “Golden Yam Can” and who collected the most donations was the Binghamton State Office Building.

Last year the “Golden Yam Can” was also awarded to employees of the Binghamton State Office Building. Last year’s overall donation tally was 11,000 meals.

This year more than 14,500 meals were donated during this challenge.
