Boil water alert issued in the City of Binghamton

CITY OF BINGHAMTON (WBNG) -- A water main break in the City of Binghamton is under a boil water alert.

According to a media advisory sent from Broome County Health Department’s Supervising Public Health Educator, Mary McFadden, the following areas are affected:

-All areas north of Prospect Avenue and south of Linda Drive between Front Street and Glenwood Road/Avenue.

-All areas north of Sowden Street and east of Airport Road.

Residents in affected areas are advised to use bottled water or boil all water for at least one minute and let it cool down before using it for drinking, cooking, washing, cleaning, and brushing teeth.

The City of Binghamton will be taking additional samples and notification will be sent out when the boil water alert is lifted.
