Binghamton softball season ends in conference tournament loss to UMass Lowell
VESTAL, N.Y. (WBNG) - UMass Lowell’s Ellie Frederick batted in two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, driving the River Hawks to a 3-0 win over Binghamton Friday afternoon at the Bearcats Sports Complex. With the loss, the Bearcats finish the tournament in fourth place.
Hawks pitcher Ryley White gave up one walk and struck out seven batters. She kept the Bearcats from getting a runner past second base. Frederick, meanwhile, started a three-run bottom of the fourth inning that gave the River Hawks all of their runs for the game. She doubled home a pair of runs during the frame and scored one batter later on a double by Tori Muller.
The Bearcats got solid pitching from sophomore starter Allison L’Amoreaux, who did not allow an unearned run through four innings. Senior pitcher Sophia Pappas came on in relief and tossed two scoreless innings with four strikeouts. In the process, she concluded an America East Tournament 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA. In 9.1 innings, she struck out 11 batters.
