Broome County Parks in need of summer lifeguards

(WBNG) -- With summer right around the corner, swimming areas across Broome County are preparing to open.
Broome County Parks is opening swimming locations for the season the last weekend of May, and there’s still a need for lifeguards.
Director of Parks, Recreation, and Youth Services Liz Woidt said there’s not necessarily a shortage of lifeguards across county parks, but additional guards are still needed for the season.
“Hopefully we don’t have to close any beaches due to shortages,” said Woidt. “Luckily we can pull our lifeguards from other parks where we are full staffed. So, we don’t anticipate running into that, but if you are out looking for a summer job still, we have lifeguard positions open. If you’re not certified, please give our office a call. We’ve got contacts that are running certification courses.”
