Rumble Ponies win 3-2 in extras wearing special edition “Spiedies” jerseys
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies held a special promotion where they became the Binghamton “Spiedies” for a night and they won 3-2 in extra innings over the Somerset Patriots.
Somerset got the scoring started in the first inning when the first batter of the game Anthony Volpe hit a solo home run. Then, in the fifth, Max Burt hit another solo home run for the Patriots to put them up 2-0.
In the sixth, Binghamton started to come back as Carlos Cortes drove in a run. Then in the seventh, Zach Ashford tied the game at 2-2 with an RBI single.
Finally, in the tenth, Francisco Alvarez hit a walk-off sacrifice fly to give Binghamton the 3-2 win.
The Rumble Ponies will conclude their series against the Patriots on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. at Mirabito Stadium.
