Binghamton’s Evin Sullivan named Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American
VESTAL, N.Y. (WBNG) - Binghamton freshman catcher/DH Evin Sullivan has added to his first-year honors after being named to the Collegiate Baseball Freshman All-American Team. Sullivan becomes the sixth Bearcat to earn the national distinction.
Sullivan hit .365 and had a team-high 42 RBIs for a Bearcats team that won the America East championship and played in the NCAA Regionals. He led the Bearcats with 23 extra-base hits: 15 doubles and seven home runs. After being named the America East Rookie of the Year and first-team all-conference, Sullivan hit .600 in five postseason games, b12-for-20 with eight RBI. He then went 6-for-9 against No. 2 Stanford and No. 20 UC Santa Barbara at the NCAA Regional.
Sullivan was the first Bearcat freshman to hit in the cleanup spot since 2000. He played DH for 35 games and caught 14 games.
