Rumble Ponies drop Friday night tilt with New Hampshire

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies took a 2-0 loss to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday night at Mirabito Stadium. The Ponies mustered just two hits on the day.

The game remained scoreless until a John Aiello RBI single off Ponies starter Jesus Vargas giving the Fisher Cats a 1-0 lead in the fifth. Aiello and Eden did it again later in the night, as Aiello knocked in Eden with another single in the seventh and a double in the ninth.

Aiello finished 3-5 with three RBI and a run scored in the ninth on a Josh Hejka balk and Eden went 1-2 with a single, two walks, and three runs scored.

Vargas pitched five innings giving up five hits and a run while walking one and striking out four. Nick Fraze (2-4) got the win for New Hampshire pitching three scoreless innings of relief giving up a hit and striking out four.

The Ponies will continue their six-game series against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Saturday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
