Chenango Forks lineman Tyler Hayes signs letter of intent to Edinboro
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - One of the anchors of the Chenango Forks’ 2021 state champion offensive and defensive lines has made it official, as Tyler Hayes signed his national letter of intent to play football at the collegiate level for the Edinboro Fighting Scots.
Hayes was a force on both sides of the ball for the Chenango Forks Blue Devils. On offense, he bolstered one of the most lethal running attacks in the state of New York. The lineman finished with 93 pancakes in his senior season. On defense, Hayes disrupted plays from the line of scrimmage, accumulating 86 tackles and seven sacks on the year.
The two-way player had plenty of options to continue his football career at the next level, but chose Edinboro because of the coaching staff, which bore many similarities to the staff he worked with at Chenango Forks.
“The coaches, I just felt like it was a great fit for me. The atmosphere at Edinboro, their play style, the way they just operate I feel like it’s going to be a great fit for me,” Hayes said. “The energy that all of the coaches bring every single day, it’s amazing.”
