Greene softball pitcher Olivia Kennedy named Class C Player of the Year, Section 4 earns 36 All-State honors
(WBNG) - The 2022 New York softball All-State selections have been announced and Section 4 lead the state with 36 selections. Among the first-team selections, was Greene pitcher Olivia Kennedy who was also named the Class C Player of the Year.
This is the senior pitcher’s second consecutive Player of the Year honor and her third All-State selection. Kennedy pitched five no-hitters for Greene including one in the team’s Section 4 title game win over Elmira Notre Dame. She also didn’t allow an earned run until the state title game as Greene finished the season 23-1 and runners-up in the state.
In Class D, Deposit-Hancock head coach Dan Briggs was named Coach of the Year. This is the second straight year he’s earned this honor after being named the Coach of the Year in Class C in 2021. Briggs led Deposit-Hancock to a state title.
Among the 36 Section 4 selections, eight were on first team’s with at least one in each class.
