BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - One week after throwing 65 pitches in a rehab start for the Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Max Scherzer will return to the mound and make his second rehab start as the team travels to Hartford to begin a series against the Yard Goats on Tuesday.

In his last rehab start on June 21, the New York Mets ace pitched 3 1/3 innings striking out six batters and allowing two runs on three hits in a 7-6 loss to the Reading Fightin’ Phils.

Scherzer strained his left oblique on May 18th and is currently trying to find his way back into the Mets rotation.

First pitch on Tuesday is set for 7:05 p.m. at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford, CT.
