Mets promote Francisco Alvarez to Triple-A Syracuse

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WBNG) - The New York Mets are promoting Binghamton Rumble Ponies catcher Francisco Alvarez to their Triple-A affiliate the Syracuse Mets, according to a report by Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

Alvarez has been on a tear recently as he’s hit 14 home runs and driven in 28 runs since late May. The 20-year old Venezuelan catcher is ranked as the top prospect in the Mets farm system.

He’s spent the entire 2022 season with the Rumble Ponies hitting 18 home runs, 47 RBIs, with a .277 batting average.

According to the report, Alvarez is expected to report to Syracuse on Monday.
